Paul tells the Romans to be non-conformists.  He urges in Romans 12: 2 not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is, His good, pleasing and perfect will. In order for us to no longer conform, to be counter-cultural, we must know and identify what we are to be transformed with.

As Christians we must subscribe to the new order contained in scripture ... a new way of living and moving and having our being - a new order according to the Biblical story. A story that:

• has a "telos" - a design and a purpose and respond to this knowledge by living  a purposeful life,
• starts with a Person who is a divine community,
• the relationship of God to His world is a fundamentally one of "speaking" and this continues to be the case today,
• understands evil is not foundational; it’s a distortion of fundamental goodness.  It’s not the exact equal and opposite to goodness, while it can’t be manipulated it can be rejected,
• the Biblical story is one of overwhelming hope (Rod Thompson).

At Strathalbyn Christian College we aim to help our students engage and critique the world with the view of biblical transformation.  We want our students to understand that God has a plan and a purpose for each of them and encourage them to fulfil this plan while being active change-agents in our community.
